Interview with Victoria Collier, Elder Care Attorney, about her new book "47 Secret Veteran Benefits for Seniors" during our annual Veterans Day Telethon. He...
The government has spread the myth based on false data that people are living longer, they use this to extend the time to be qualified for Social Security Benefits hoping more people will die before they can use their money that they contributed to SS.
The thing i don't like is the discrimination taking place within the V.A. Some vets are charged 100% more than other vets for care, certain medicines are withheld from certain groups, V.A. is run like an insurance company right now. V.A. is pulling peoples I.R.S. records without their permission to snoop into their financial affairs going around the privacy act completely.
At times the VA can be extremely helpful, places like the vet center assist vets at times abd I say that because I tried for 6 months to get the representative at the vet center to file a claim only to get put off (Pensicola Fla) ai I hired an attorney after much discouragement. I was told "there was a long waiting list: Gainnsville" rep is an old volunteer, which clearly identifies the management's lack of concern... Very Scary
Dangerous information, some of it is decietful. As a former Rating Specialist, they place the claimant in legal danger by repositioning assetts, hiding as the VA calls it. Medicare issues also arise. These program are being investigated by the Senate. Just go to a traditional service organization like the VFW, AmVets, American Legion or your states Veteran's Department. Check out the articles in AARP and the New York Times. These lawyers and financial planners make very big commissions.
